Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup fruit jam or chocolate ganache
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  • Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until combined.
  • Shape the dough into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter) and place them on a baking sheet.
  • Using your thumb, make an indentation in the center of each ball.
  • Fill each indentation with your chosen jam or chocolate.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes.
  • Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
