Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons oil for frying

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  • Form the mixture into 4 oval patties.
  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned.
  • Remove patties and keep warm.
  • In the same skillet, add flour and stir to create a roux.
  • Gradually whisk in beef broth, stirring until smooth.
  • Bring the gravy to a simmer and return the patties to the skillet.
  • Cover and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
  • Serve patties with gravy over mashed potatoes or rice.
