Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
Place the prime rib roast on a rack in a roasting pan.
Rub olive oil all over the roast.
In a bowl, mix garlic, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper.
Apply the herb mixture evenly over the meat.
Insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the roast.
Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (165°C) and continue roasting.
Cook until the thermometer reads 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.
Remove the roast from the oven and let it rest for 20-30 minutes before slicing.
