Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
Allow the prime rib to come to room temperature for about 1 hour.
Mix garlic, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
Rub the olive oil all over the roast.
Generously coat the roast with the herb mixture.
Place the roast on a rack in a roasting pan, bone side down.
Roast at 450°F for 20 minutes to develop a crust.
Reduce the temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue roasting.
Use a meat thermometer to check for desired doneness.
Once cooked, remove from the oven and let it rest for 20-30 minutes before slicing.
