Ingredients

  • 1 5-7 lb prime rib roast
  • 2 tablespoons kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  • Take the prime rib roast out of the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for about 1 hour.
  • In a small bowl, mix together salt, pepper, garlic, rosemary, thyme, and olive oil.
  • Rub the spice mixture all over the prime rib, ensuring even coverage.
  • Place the roast on a rack in a roasting pan, bone-side down.
  • Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  • Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (165°C) and continue roasting until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness.
  • Once done, remove the roast from the oven and tent it with foil. Let it rest for at least 20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, in the same roasting pan, add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping up browned bits.
  • Strain the drippings for a delicious gravy or sauce to serve alongside.
