Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter chilled and diced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 6 to 8 tablespoons ice water
  • 4 cups sliced apples
  • ¾ cup sugar for filling
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour for filling
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, and sugar.
  • Add diced butter and mix until crumbly.
  • Stir in ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until dough forms.
  • Divide the dough in half, shape into disks, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Roll out one disk on a floured surface to fit your pie pan.
  • Place the rolled dough in the pie pan and trim the excess.
  • In another bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
  • Pour the apple mixture into the prepared crust.
  • Roll out the second dough disk and create a lattice top or cover the pie.
  • Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
