Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of brioche or challah bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Fresh berries and banana slices for topping
  • Maple syrup for serving

Instructions

  • Slice the bread into thick pieces and arrange them in a greased baking dish.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread slices, ensuring each slice is soaked.
  • Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) the next morning.
  • Bake the overnight French toast uncovered for about 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  • Check for doneness by inserting a knife in the center; it should come out clean.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
  • Top with fresh berries and banana slices.
  • Drizzle with maple syrup before serving.
