Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter chilled and diced
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 carrots diced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix flour and salt.
  • Add diced butter and mix until crumbly.
  • Stir in cold water until dough forms.
  • Knead lightly and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  • In a skillet, sauté onions and garlic until translucent.
  • Add ground beef and cook until browned.
  • Stir in carrots, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Simmer for 10 minutes, then season with salt and pepper.
  • Roll out the dough and place in a pie dish.
  • Fill with meat mixture and cover with another layer of dough.
  • Cut slits in the top crust for steam to escape.
  • Brush with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
