Ingredients

  • 12 oz fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • Zest of one orange
  • Juice of one orange
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Rinse the cranberries under cold water and remove any stems or blemished berries.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine water and sugar, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  • Add the cranberries to the saucepan.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  • Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes, until the cranberries burst.
  • Add the orange juice, zest, cinnamon, and salt to the pot.
  • Stir well to combine all ingredients.
  • Continue to simmer for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  • Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  • Transfer the sauce to a bowl and refrigerate until ready to serve.
