Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture.
  • Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Make a well in the center and pour in the milk.
  • Stir until just combined; do not overmix!
  • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently 5-6 times.
  • Roll the dough to about 1-inch thickness.
  • Cut out biscuits using a round cutter and place them on a baking sheet.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
