Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • Green food coloring
  • Royal icing for decoration
  • Red candy hearts and edible eyes

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a separate large bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  • Add green food coloring until the desired shade is reached.
  • Roll dough into balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  • Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  • Once cooled, decorate with royal icing, candy hearts, and edible eyes.
