Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • Fresh basil for garnish
  • Olive oil for drizzling

Instructions

  • Begin by boiling a large pot of salted water.
  • In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and nutmeg.
  • Add flour gradually, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • Flour your working surface and turn the dough out onto it.
  • Divide the dough into four sections for easier handling.
  • Roll each section into a long rope about 1/2 inch thick.
  • Cut the rope into 1-inch pieces to form the gnocchi.
  • Using a fork, press down on each piece to create ridges.
  • Drop the gnocchi into the boiling water and cook until they float, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove with a slotted spoon and transfer to a plate.
  • In a pan, heat marinara sauce and add the cooked gnocchi, tossing gently.
  • Serve hot, garnished with Parmesan and fresh basil.
