Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup hot water

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a bundt pan.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, spices, and salt.
  • In a separate large bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Mix in the molasses until fully incorporated.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with hot water.
  • Mix until just combined; don't overmix.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan.
  • Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
