Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs parsley or dill for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil and blanch the cabbage for 2-3 minutes.
  • Carefully remove the outer leaves and set them aside to cool.
  • In a skillet, sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
  • In a bowl, mix ground beef, cooked rice, sautéed onion, garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Place 2-3 tablespoons of filling in the center of each cabbage leaf.
  • Fold in the sides and roll up tightly.
  • Spread a layer of tomato sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  • Arrange the cabbage rolls seam-side down in the dish.
  • Top with remaining tomato sauce and cover with foil.
  • Bake for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
