Ingredients

  • 6 cups of stale bread torn into pieces
  • 4 cups of milk
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup of raisins optional
  • 1/4 cup of melted butter
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, soak the torn bread pieces in milk for about 15 minutes.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, vanilla, melted butter, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Combine the wet ingredients with the soaked bread, mixing until well incorporated.
  • If using, fold in the raisins gently into the mixture.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
  • Dust with powdered sugar before serving for a beautiful finish.
