Ingredients

  • 1 French baguette or Italian bread
  • 4 large ripe tomatoes diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Balsamic glaze optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch thick slices.
  • Arrange the slices on a baking sheet.
  • Brush each slice lightly with olive oil.
  • Toast the bread in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, until golden brown.
  • In a bowl, combine diced tomatoes, minced garlic, and chopped basil.
  • Drizzle olive oil over the tomato mixture, then season with salt and pepper.
  • Remove the toasted bread from the oven and let it cool slightly.
  • Top each slice with the tomato mixture.
  • Drizzle with balsamic glaze if desired and serve immediately.
