Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast 2 1/4 teaspoons
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 egg for egg wash

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt.
  • Add the yeast mixture and melted butter to the dry ingredients.
  • Mix until a dough forms; knead for about 5-7 minutes.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  • Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
  • Shape each piece into a ball and place them on a greased baking tray.
  • Cover the rolls and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Brush the rolls with beaten egg and bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.
